Iznogoud – The Grand Vizier Iznogoud

“I want to be the Caliph instead of the Caliph” - We are back again with the denizens of old Baghdad. This time we have a genie from a magic pair of slippers, a fractious neighboring sultan, a pair of dumb stand-in strong-arm men, a Mongol horde complete with Yurts and yogurts,  a Caliph look-a-like, and a fabled island of the giants. And each is used, by devious, deceitful, and frankly doomed Iznogoud, in his Caliph toppling attempts. And every time it goes wonderfully, ridiculously, disastrously wrong for Iznogoud.

Iznogoud Vol. 9  (Nov 2012)

Plot:
Iznogoud is still trying to get rid of Caliph Haroun al Placid so he can take his place. He’s even kept a journal of his previous failed attempts. But, never discouraged, he will once again come up with new ways to entertain us through his failures: genies, kidnappings, lookalikes, diplomatic incidents... and even the Mongol horde! When it comes to becoming Caliph instead of the Caliph, all’s fair to Grand Vizier Iznogoud!

René Goscinny (1926-1977)

René Goscinny (French: [ʁəne ɡosini]; 14 August 1926 – 5 November 1977) was a French comics editor and writer, who is best known internationally for the comic book Astérix, which he created with illustrator Albert Uderzo, and for his work on the comic series Lucky Luke with Morris (considered the series' golden age) and Iznogoud with Jean Tabary.

With Goscinny’s delightful and devilish sense of humor, perfectly blended with Tabary’s beautiful art, everyone will be amazed with the off-hand bits of clever comedy. Iznogoud is classic funny. But it’s classic Goscinny. The two are practically inseparable.
